Object
of the workshop
Substantial progress has been made in soil investigations during
the past century. Our abilities to asses subsurface conditions,
predict soil behaviour and accommodate this behaviour using appropriate
designs are now far better than before.
Geotechnical engineers continue
to face new technical challenges. High cost of real estate, especially
in urban areas, often dictates the need to build on sites with poor
soil conditions or sites rejected in the past. These difficult sites
pose special problems and have resulted in the development of many
new techniques for soil improvements.
The case studies pertaining
to such advanced techniques as applied in different types of construction
projects are proposed to be discussed during this workshop. |
