Globalisation and Technology(primarily, IT) have compelled nations to open up their enonomies to global competition. In India too, new economic initiatives by the Govt. have encouraged significant global orientation. Indian industry is evaluating and rapidly consolidating its strengths.
It is now established that Indian Software industry has tremendous potential for growth. This is already evident in the increasing turnover of leading IT companies and in both indigenous and outsourced software development undertaken within the country. Continued insistence on quality is imperative to gain market leadership in this area of Linux and Open source development.
The course is aimed at emphasizing the importance of Linux, open source software development and familiarizing engineering faculty with concepts, methodologies and tools for Linux which they can, in turn, utilize in teaching and Institutional development. The exit level of participants would be a clear understanding of best-of-breed and industry practices in this vital area.
