NRI – Non Resident Indian:
An Indian Citizen who stays abroad for employment/ carrying on business or vacation outside India or stays abroad under circumstances indicating an intention for an uncertain duration of stay abroad is a non-resident. (Persons posted in U.N. organizations and officials deputed abroad by Central/ State Government and Public Sector Undertakings on temporary assignments are also treated as non-resident)

As per IT act of 1961 NRI means.
Those whose parents are working abroad,
Sponsorship only by parents working abroad
Those who have foreign residence permits

PIO – Person of Indian Origin:
A foreign citizen (other than a citizen of Pakistan or Bangladesh) is deemed to be of Indian Origin, if,
i. he, at any time, held an Indian passport,
ii. he or either of his parents or any of his grand parents was a citizen of India but virtue of the Constitution of India or Citizenship Act, 1956( 57 of 1955)

Last degree from abroad.
Those who possess PIO card.

Foreign Student :
Foreign student means a citizen of any country other than India, who is not of Indian origin as defined under PIO.

The student holding a foreign passport.

10+2/Intermediate/Senior Secondary/Higher Secondary/Pre-University Mark sheet & Certificate for all the undergraduate courses, specifically for Engineering and Architecture Courses aggregate 50% in Physics, Chemistry & Maths (PCM) and for Health Science courses aggregate 50% in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) is compulsory.

Bachelor or Graduate Mark sheet & Certificatewith respective specialization for pursuing that particular Post Graduation Program.

Master or Post Graduate Mark sheet & Certificatewith respective specialization for pursuing that particular Doctoral Program

Yes, if the Student is from Non English speaking country has been granted admission to any of the courses after passing the qualifyingexamination from a Statutory board or Statutory University outside India will have to appear for the English Proficiency Test (EPT) conducted by the International Centre, University of Pune.

Following students are exempted from English Proficiency Test at the University of Pune

• Students from English speaking countries
• Students who have passed from Indian school, board ,college abroad
• Students who have passed ELICIS Course with minimum B+ (Grade).
• ICCR students

After receiving Firm letter of admission from Savitribai Phule Pune University the student has to report within 7 days to the Sinhgad International Students Centre’ office to confirm his/her admission and will have to make the full payment towards college fees

Hostel accommodation is provided on First come First serve basis. The Institute has luxurious self–sufficient hostel rooms (1000 in numbers) available. For International students, there is a separate boys and girls hostel with additional facilities such as Cooking aids, T.V., Washing Machine, Fridge, Intercom, Wi-Fi connectivity etc.

There are more than 6 Canteens/Cafeteria providing a variety of choices in multi cuisine – local and international dishes.

Library is a vital need in an academic institution. We have a huge collection i.e. 14375 + books and 175+ International/National journals with 24 x 7 access facility.

Apart from regular academics, the Sinhgad International Students’ Centre organizes a variety of activities and cultural events wherein foreign students of various Sinhgad Institutes can come together and meet on a common platform to display their many talents in the field of sports, cultural etc.
