I was visiting Professor of Pharmacology during 1980-82 at School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Technology affiliated to one of the Federal University of Brazil. As a visiting Professor, I have developed and established a laboratory for carrying out research work in the area of Chemistry and Pharmacology of natural products and initiated post-graduate course in the area of Pharmacology and Chemistry of Natural Products. I joined Principal K.M. Kundnani College of Pharmacy, Mumbai as Professor and Head of the Pharmacology Department. Subsequently, I was appointed as Principal of Principal KM. Kundnani College of Pharmacy, Mumbai on 1st July, 2002. I am a recognized guide for M. Phann. Sci (Pharmacology) and Ph.D. (Tech) in Pharmacology in Mumbai as well as Pune University.

RESEARCH CREDENTIALS AND AWARDS:

I have published 155 research (peer-reviewed) publications in many national and international reputed scientific journals. I have 18 Indian Patents to my credit. I have received many national awards viz., National Research Development Council (NRDC) in 1995 in the area of Technology (Enzyme Immobilization Technology), Vividhlaxi Audyogik Samshodhon Vikas Kendra (VASVIK) in the area of Biological Sciences and Technology (Development of Toxoplasmosis detection kit based on IgG & IgM antibodies) in 1995 and Hexamar Agricultural Research Foundation Research award (for my contribution in Pharmacology and Toxicology of insecticides and pesticides) in 1996. I have also been awarded by HAL for managerial excellence for new product/process technology development (26th Jan, 1989). My name has been included in MARQUIS'S WHO IS WHO' IN THE WORLD published from USA in 1997.

AFFILIATION AND MEMBERSHIPS:

I am a Fellow of Royal Society Chemistry, London (since 1996) and Fellow of Royal Pharmacy (Since 2008). I have been an active member of many National and International Scientific and Technical bodies and academic Institutions. I am a member of New York Academy of Sciences, (since 1995), Chief Editor, Hindustan Antinbiotic Bulletin (1987-1999 Dec.), A journal abstracted in Chemical and Biological abstract and member of the Editorial Board "Advances in Pharmacology and Toxicology" (Since 2000). I have also been appointed as a member of Indian Drugs Editorial Advisory Board (2002 onwards).

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:

I have been actively working in the area of Drug Research and Drug Development which includes development of animal models for drug screening, cellular and molecular mechanism of drugs specially (anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antibacterial, hypolipidemic, hepato-protective, hypoglycemic, anti-psychotic etc.) during 1970-85. From 1985 onwards my research activities concentrated largely on the development of microbial metabolites, bioconversion and diagnostics. I have 30years well blended experience in Industry and Academia. Many Students obtained M.Sc. Ph.D. Biochemistry and M.Pharm & Ph.D. (Tech) Pharmacology and also received advanced training under my guidance in the area of biotechnology at Hindustan Antibiotic Research & Development Centre.

I have traveled extensively both in India and abroad. I has been to countries like Hungary, France, USA, Brazil, Thiwan, Russia, UK, Italy, Germany and Hongkong.
