As a premier teaching
Institute, we understand the growing needs of higher education,
industry requirements, new emerging technologies and disciplines.
We look at ourselves as vanguards of science and therefore
we envisage a Post Graduate program in Geo-Informatics
that encompasses a dual challenge of equipping students
with a strong scientific foundation as well as training
them in latest methodologies and technologies. |

In his welcome speech
Prof M.N. Navale said “This PG Program is reflection
of our proactive approach to abreast needs of globalization
and adapt our teaching programs accordingly. This course
in Geoinformatics is the reflection of the same and a
stepping stone into the future considering the growth
rate of GIS industry”. |
|
The requirement for such
a focused program is an outcome of the realization of
the need of the course. This derived from interactions
in various industry-academia interactions across the country
in the last 2 years. This course already has committed
contributions (experts contributing to the program as
faculty resource and in terms of our student resources
being available to them for dedicated projects), from
leading experts of international repute, besides a couple
of major national level organizations. Mentioned “ |
|
| “ STES has signed
a MoU with Kalyani Net Ventures Ltd.,
for Sustained guidance and technical support towards the
assurance of the quality and contents of the course in
addition to KNVL staff contributing as Resource faculty
/ Subject Experts to the conduct of the course. This
course also has significant support from all GIS software
majors like ESRI, MAPInfo, ROLTA, etc and applications
agencies.
This Program is unique in the country that even before
the roll-out of the course, the entire laboratory for
conducting the course is fully equipped with software
and hardware required for the training, with an installation
cost of more than a Crore of Rupees. In addition, the
course faculty and the detailed weekly schedule of the
course has been worked out in advance”.
–Dr Sampada Joshi, Principal.

| “The GIS Industry
is poised for a major growth in this country, with a projected
annual revenue of over Rs. 250 crores in services
alone. Add to that derivatives and license sales, the
volume could be more than double. Obviously the need for
trained manpower, capable of delivering the solutions
and services in a timely and meaningful manner is great.
Realising that the industry ends up spending from its
own pocket in training manpower, KNVL has identified STES
as a training partner to cater to its needs. ………”.Dr
Vivek Kale, CEO, KNVL. |
