National Conference on Advancements in Information
Technology and Internet Security, AITIS-2008, was
organized by the Department of MCA, Sinhgad Institute of
Business Administration and Research (SIBAR), Pune, on 4th
and 5th January 2008.

AITIS had
been an event that enlightened many aspects of IT and Internet
Security. This conference had provided a forum for researchers
and professionals from Industries, Research & Development
sector, Educational Institutions, Government Organizations and
Universities to share and disseminate their innovative and
pioneering views about recent trends and developments in the
areas of Information Technology and Internet Security. The
conference covered almost all the state-of-the-art technology
areas with an aim to establish and strengthen relationships in
research and development, through networking and collaboration
of members and participants. It also revealed various
complexities and intricacies involved in yet undiscovered
fields of computer science.

papers were received from 11 different states, out of which 50
papers were finally selected for presentations as research
papers at AITIS. The review process was a double blind system
with evaluations by two different reviewers, followed by a
final internal review. The papers were accepted based on
relevance of the topic, originality, novelty of the work done
and overall appeal of the paper. The conference covered areas
related to Biometrics, Digital Image and Signal Processing,
Pattern Recognition, Human Computer Interaction (HCI),
E-Commerce, Digital Signal Processing, Advanced Networking and
Security, Data Mining, Knowledge Management, Grid Computing,
Parallel Computing, Bioinformatics, Internet Security, etc.
The event
was initiated by a grand inauguration ceremony and
felicitation of the dignitaries. It witnessed the presence of
many renowned personalities from all over the nation. A book
comprising of the all the research papers, which will be on
sale worldwide, was inaugurated in the conference.
The chief
guest was Dr. Ganesh Natarajan, CEO, Zensar
Technologies Ltd., Pune. He delivered a short speech on
collaboration & innovation, the related opportunities &
challenges, Web 2.0, SOA, Global On Demand Concept and a
global view on the emerging IT industries.
The other
invited dignitaries on the dais were Dr. Pandit Vidyasagar,

presentations were divided in four tracks over the two days
with about 12 papers per track. Tracks were chaired by Dr. K.
V. Kale & Dr. R. Dharaskar, Dr. V. M. Thakare & Dr. P. S.
Hiremath, Dr. B. M. Mehtre, Mr. Shivanand, Dr. M. V.
Ananthakrishnan and Dr. S Wanjarkhede. |

The
conference valedictory function was presided over by chief
guest Dr. K. V. Kale and Prof. S. N. Nawale. The best two
papers were selected and awarded prizes and also considered
for publication in International Journal on Banking and
Commerce. The best ten papers will be published in
International Journal on Advances in Computer Vision.
The event
was followed by research paper presentations which explored
the previously undiscovered areas in IT. Personnel from IBM
presented a talk on their academic initiative before the end
of the first day. This was followed by a cultural event
anchored by Mr. Sameer Desai.
The
presentations were divided in four tracks over the two days
with about 12 papers per track. Track I was conducted on the
first day and the rest were conducted on the second day.
