Rules For Admission
(As per the Government of Maharashtra Notification No. 1 0/ADG/1 093/1225, dated 17/06/93)
  • The rules modified by the Government from time to time shall be applicable.
  • These rules are applicable for the admission to First Year Diploma Courses in Engg.
  • The admission shall be effected by the Principal, Sou. Venutai Chavan Polytechnic, Pune.
  •  

    Qualifying Examination and Eligibility

     

       For admission to first year of Diploma Courses, the candidates must have passed Secondary School Certificate Examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary School Certificate Examination or any other equivalent Examination with
    (1) General Science or Physics and Chemistry
    (2) Elementary Mathematics or Algebra and Geometry and
    (3) English, wit least 50 percent marks (350 out of 700) in aggregate (at least 45 percent marks for Backward Class candidates (3l5 out of 700) in aggregate from recognized schools in Maharashtra State its equivalent.

     

    How to Apply

     
  • The candidate shall submit their applications complete in all respect, in the prescribed printed form together with necessary documents to the Principal, Sou. Venutai Chavan Polytechnic S.No. 44/1, Vadgaon (Budruk), off Sinhgad Road, Pune -411041, so as to reach his office within10 days (by 5.00 p.m. of the 10th day) from the date of declaration of the results of S.S.C Examination of Maharashtra State Board. Application form is enclosed with this brochure.
  • Application must be filled in by the candidate in his/her own handwriting and must be signed by the candidate himself/herself along with declaration signed by his/her Father/Guardian.
  • Candidate should clearly indicate his/her priority for the branch of engineering and the application will be processed accordingly. Candidate will not be allowed to make any change in it, once the application is submitted.

    Domicile

     
  • Unless stated otherwise in these rules, the admissions to Diploma Courses are open to the candidates from the State of Maharashtra. The candidate should have studied in any recognized Institution in Maharashtra, for at least two academic years proceeding to the qualifying examination. This much may be the sufficient proof of domicile in Maharashtra for the purpose of admission unless the situation so warrants.
  • Sons/Daughters of the employees of (a) Government of India or (b) undertakings of Government of India shall be eligible for admission, provided that the guardian of such a candidate is domiciled in any other State or Union territory but he must have been transferred to Maharashtra within two preceding academic years and have joined the post and have not been transferred thereafter out of Maharashtra. The duration of two years shall be counted prior to the last date of receipt of application.
  • Sons / Daughters of persons domiciled in Maharashtra will also be eligible for admission even they have passed the qualifying examination from outside the state. A domicile certificate respect of father and where the father of candidate is not alive or divorced and the candidate staying with mother, then mothers domicile certificate shall be produced.
  •  

    Nationality

     

    Unless stated otherwise in these rules, the candidates must be Indian national.

     

    Age Limit For Admission

     

    There shall not be age limit for admission.

     

    Reservations

     
    i) Reservation for Backward Classes:

    As per the Notification of the “Department of Higher and Technical Education and Employment” of Govt. of Maharashtra vide No. TEM/1594/63030/TE-1 dated 3/06/1994 the reservation of seats for admission in Sou. Venutai Chavan Polytechnic, Pune shall be as under –
     
    Scheduled Caste and SC converted to Buddhism (SC) 13 percent
    Scheduled Tribes (ST) 7 percent
    Denotified Tribes (DT) 3 percent
    Nomadic Tribes (NT-1) 2.5 Percent
    Nomadic Tribes (NT-2) 3.5 Percent
    Nomadic tribes (NT-3) 2 Percent
    Other Backward Classes (OBC) (including SBC) 19 Percent

    50 Percent

    Note :

  • These reservations are admissible only for the candidates domiciled in the State of Maharashtra. The reservations as above shall be course wise.
  • Students claiming to belong to categories NT-1, NT-2, NT-3, OBC and SBC will have to furnish evidence to show that they are not included as creamy layer as per the Government resolution No. CBC/1094/PraKra86/Mavak-5, dated 16/06/1994.
  • So far as backward classes are concerned, they shall produce certificate of their case from the District Magistrate or any Executive Magistrate authorized by him.
  •  
    ii) Female Candidates (FE) :

  • There shall be 30% seats reserved for female candidates in the course where the seats for open for male as well as female candidates
  • The seats reserved for female candidates shall have further reservation among themselves for the categories mentioned above and as per rule.
  • iii) Technical Candidates (TE) :


    There shall be 15% seats reserved for the candidates taking Technical Subjects(s) as prescribed by the Board of Technical Examination, Maharashtra State and passing therein in the Secondary School Certificate Examination with qualifying marks as per rule.

    For deciding the merit of such candidates, the marks scored by the candidate in the S.S.C Examination without considering the marks scored by him in the Technical Subject(s) shall be considered.
    The seats reserved for these candidates shall have further reservation among then selves for the other categories as per rule.


    iv) Management Quota


    As per [GR 2003 (133/2003) - Tech. Ed. 1 dated 16/04/2003] is 15 percent.
     
     
    Special Provision for admission of outside State Candidate in unaided Polytechnic :
     

    If, after exhaustion of the general merit list of the candidates from Maharashtra State there are some seats vacant in the unaided polytechnic, the candidates from the other states and Union Territories may be considered by preparing a separate merit list of these candidates these admissions shall be done by the Principal, Sou. Venutai Chavan Polytechnic, Pune.

     

    Admission for Non Residents Indian (NRI) / Foreign Nationals (FN) / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) :

     

    As per the notification of AICTE vide notification no. 37/3/legal/2004 dated 21st Jan 2004 published in the gazette of India extraordinary (part-3 Section 4) on 26th Feb.2004 the Government has approved the quota for the above categories as 15% of the sanctioned seats (for further details contact Principal, Sou. Venutai Chavan Polytechnic, Pune.)

     

    Selection

     
  • Selection for admission shall be made strictly on the basis of the inter-se-merit of the candidate
  • The Principal I Head of the Institution shall be responsible for effecting the admission accordance with these rules.
