The 8th World Gene Convention 2017, a three day International Conference was organized with the theme �Precision, Informization, Intelligentization and Industrialization�. The technical program focused on themes related to breakthroughs in gene discovery, advances in Genomics and Genetics, new research of DNA and RNA biology, Cutting edge biotechnology, nanotechnology and emerging areas for medicinal applications. The convention was attended by more than 260 world renowned speakers, senior scientists, distinguished industry leaders and project leaders from more than 43 countries in life science industry. The convention was spread over a period of three days covering nine different modules and twenty three different themes.
Dr. Shalaka P. Dhat was invited as a speaker to deliver a speech on �Actarit Nanoparticles for Ulcerative Colitis� at the Theme 803: New Biomaterials and NanoBiotechnology on Nov 15, 2017 at 2.00 p.m).
Ms. Vandana Gawande has been declared eligible for award of Ph.D degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmaceutics) on the basis of the evaluation reports of the external examiners, Supervisor and her performance at the Viva Voce held on 22nd April, 2017 at Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The title of her Ph.D Thesis is "Stability Studies of Cephalosporin and its Combinations."
Mrs.Shalaka Pranjal Dhat has been declared eligible for award of Ph.D degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmaceutics) on the basis of the evaluation reports of the external examiners, Supervisor and her performance at the Viva Voce held on October 03, 2017 in the school of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Jaipur National University, Jaipur. The title of her Ph.D Thesis is "Development and Characterization of Oral Nanoparticulate Delivery Systems of Satranidazole"
Prof. Arun Maruti Kashid�has been declared eligible for award of�Ph.D�degree in�Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmaceutical Chemistry)�on the basis of the evaluation reports of the external examiners, Supervisor and his performance at the Viva Voce held on dated, 08/12/2017 at�Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The title of his Ph.D Thesis is�Design, Synthesis and Pharmacological Evaluation of Novel Antiviral Drugs.

Dr. Pankaj B. Miniyar and Dr. Vandana T. Gawande have attended four days International Symposium for High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC 2017) organized by Club De Chromatographie Sur Couche Mince (CCCM), France, at Maritim Proarte Hotel,Friedrichstra�e Berlin, Germany during 4 th -8 th July 2017.
Total 111 poster presentations and 60 oral presentations were delivered by participants from different countries.
Dr. P. B. Miniyar presented 2 posters viz. �Quantification of curcumin and eugenol marketed formulations and method validation by using HPTLC� and �Estimation of genotoxic impurity of quetiapine by HPTLC method�.
Dr. Vandana Gawande gave oral presentation on �Preparative isolation and characterization of degradation products of cefixime and azithromycin� and received �Young Researcher Award dedicated to Helmut Jork� worth 2000 Euro amongst 22 competitors across the globe.
9th NDIRA PHARMA ZEAL National level poster presentation competition organized at SCES�s Indira College of Pharmacy on 10th -11th Feb 2017. The topic was �Pharma CID Case study competition�. Final year and third year students Shruti, Kedar, Mayur and Sanjib were participated under guidance of Dr. Urmila Aswar and bagged the runner up trophy for SIOP.

The staff Dr. U. M. Aswar and students of IIIrd year B.Pharm and M.Pharm (Sem I; Pharmacology), attended the 3rd National Conference ABMH PharmaCon 2015 for health care professionals on 17th & 18th October 2015 organized by Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital, Chinchwad , Pune-33. There were 100-150 healthcare professionals participated in the conference. The conference started at 08.00 am on first day. There were many eminent personalities from academic and hospitals on the dais.
Rekha Dubey, President (ABMH Pharmacon 2015) and Organizing secretary, Dr. Rajesh Badani Consultant � Cardiology and Electrophysiology gave the inaugural speech and discussed the importance of Pharmacy and healthcare profession in our society. Atul Nasa Asst. Drug Controller of India explained the automation in Pharmacy practice. Subodh Priolkar M.D. of Colorcon delivered lecture on growth of Indian Pharmaceutical industry. Many respected speakers shared their experience and motivated the young scientists. The posters session was conducted on 17th Oct where as oral session was conducted on 18th Oct. Students of SIOP Narhe presented posters on their respective projects. Hrudaya Shende and Utkarsha Deshpande presented their poster on ORS to low osm ORS. Utkarsha Chavan, Ashutosh Bodhak and Suvarna Jarande presented their posters on Novel use of Telmisertan. Kedar Shedge and Shruti Samlet presented their poster on Food Adulteration Kit.
On 2nd day, Dr Y.K.Gupta explained about essential medicine list and its preparation.
Dr. U. M. Aswar was called as an expert panelist for the session of question and answers. She also chaired the session of Dr D.G.Shewade. Dr. Meena Pramendra Shrivastava, Professor (Pharmacology, Karpagm Faculty of Medical Science and Research, Combitore) and D. G. Shewade, Professor (Pharmacology, JIPMER, Puducherry) evaluated and appreciated the paper presentations. The work presented by Kedar Shedge and Shruti Samlet received IInd prize for their presentation.
The Program was concluded at 5.00pm.
Mrs. S. V. Shinde received prestigious Dr. R. L. Nicore award for Best Paper in Pharmaceutics at 20th Annual National Convention of Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India �APTICON-2015� organized by Pharmacy Institutions of Madhya Pradesh at Indore during 9th � 11th October 2015.

Dr. Miniyar has presented a research paper entitled �Design, Synthesis and Anti-Tubercular Screening of 3-aminopyrazin-2-carbohydrazide Derivatives by Microwave Acceleration and Lyophilization�. Eminent scientists from different disciplines of various nationalities had attended the above conference. Dr. Pankaj Miniyar is a life member of APTI. He has published 19 research articles in reputed International & National journals, scientific findings in National & International conference & 03 Text books to his credit. He has fetched research grants of amount Rs. 9 lakh. He is a recipient of Shri Jai Shankar award. pre-conference workshop on "Application demonstration of stereotaxic neurosurgery in ethnopharmacology research" was followed by Inauguration at Vasantrao Deshpande Hall, Dr Shri Shekhar Dut was the chief guest. Inauguration was followed by the key note lectures of Dr. Pulok Mukherjee, Dr. Geoffrey Cordell, Dr. C. K. Kokate and Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan.
Prof. M K Aswar presented his research work entitled "Suppression of allodynia and hyperalgesia by Ferulic acid and Sinapic acid in surgical neuropathy (PSNL and CCI) in rats" orally. All students participant presented their research work in poster presentation. In the parallel sessions, special lectures of Dr. Michael Heinrich, Dr. D. C. Katoch, Dr. Dipendra kumar Mitra, Dr. Dilip Ghosh was organized.
Prize distribution ceremony of 53rd National Pharmacy Week, 2014 was arranged at Abasaheb Garware college auditorium on 14/2/2015 (5.30Pm). Chief Guest of function was Mr. Anand Dixit. The theme of the pharmacy week was "Responsible use of medicines: Role of the Pharmacist". Sinhgad institute of Pharmacy was winner in UG category and Runner in PG category. Dr. C.R. Kokare Coordinator and participating students of SIOP received trophies.

Report of BIT's Annual International Congress of Medichem-2014
BIT's Annual International Congress of Medichem-2014 was held at Tongli Lakeview Hotel,Suzhou,China between 18th-20th November,2014. Dr. K.G. Bothara Principal Sinhgad Institute of Pharmacy was invited as a Speaker in the Track 2 (session 2.1) entitled 'Hot Topics of Drug Discovery Chemistry'�of the conference. Topic of his presentation was ' Hybrid Drugs - Missile to Multiple Targets'. There were total Five�Tracks with each having further five�sessions. Thus there were total 25�sessions running parallel with the topics ranging from latest tools in drug design to photochemical. Over 350
experts/delegates�from industry/academics from the field of Medicinal Chemistry shared their research interests during the conference.
