Title : Stressors and Coping strategies adopted by persons taking insulin therapy Abstract : An Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is a Medical advances throughout the 20th century have resulted in the transformation of many acute and once incurable illnesses into chronic conditions. As a result, the prevalence of chronic diseases and the prevalence of diabetes in particular have increased rapidly. In addition environmental factors such as pollutants and lifestyle changes such as sedentary habits and overeating have also contributed to the rise in chronic illnesses. Consequently, diabetes is one of the most challenging and burdensome chronic diseases of the 21st century and it is a growing threat to the world’s public health. Diabetes carries with it a considerable amount of stress. People on insulin must learn how to regulate their blood glucose by monitoring glucose levels while carefully attending to their food intake and an exercise regimen. Careful blood glucose monitoring is necessary to prevent wide variations in blood sugars that affect both short term and long term health and functioning. View PDF File |
